The sound of spirits lifting

I don’t think I have ever heard Pachelbel’s Canon in D and not smiled. There is something that infiltrates my brain and rewires my emotions.  It is fascinating how music can effect moods and feelings.  I know that if I am cooking, baking, or ironing, I need music to dance to.  It keeps me motivated.  In the car music does calm the savage beast, me and the children.  I create a music barrier when I am creating.  It keeps me focused and unaware of the chaos outside the wall of sound.  I also know some styles or genres of music, certain singers or bands, even specific songs can instantly irritate me, which my children use for entertainment.

When Pachelbel’s Canon in D is followed by ‘Don’t ask me’ by OkGo, and then ‘A kiss to build a dream on’ by Louis Armstrong the happy smile just keeps on going…oooo…and then some bagpipes followed by some Ramones…
