Holy beautiful day. Although my list of to-dos gets longer, I just couldn’t stay indoors yesterday. I grabbed my camera and corralled as many of the kidlets as I could and we headed to the RBG’s arboretum. Dancing leaves, brilliant colours, soul warming sunshine, just thinking about it now gives me happy little wiggles.
In the vast expanse of grass and trees that has to be traversed before the walking trails, my youngest daughter started to attempt some cartwheels. My older daughter needed to do her own demonstration. I figured I would get in on the action and see if I could still do a cartwheel. After I completed my amazing feat I was told I was doing it wrong (I guess I was doing more of a round off than a cartwheel), so I figured I would do a few more. My children started to make worried exclamations about me potentially breaking myself, but I figured we needed one for the picture books.
This seemed more graceful and accomplished than it looks.
The rest of the walk was as fabulous as its auspicious beginning.
This chickadee was dubbed Louis. He was landing on one functioning leg. In previous years we would go and feed ‘Kevin’, another chickadee who only had one leg. He would land and lean against your thumb to feed. Wild life lessons.
