Tomorrow, the family, dogs, and I are hooking up the Airstream, hopping into the truck and venturing to the east coast.
Our first time we headed east was 10 years ago. Our youngest was 1 1/2 years old at the time. We have made the trip a couple more times since then. The first trip seemed crazy. Four kids, 8 years old and younger, a dog, and everything necessary for two weeks of camping on the road, all stuffed into a Mazda MPV. Entertainment was what they could see out the window and books I had read to the computer and burned onto CDs (I get horribly motion sick if I have to look down or backwards for any reason. There is no reading in the car). It was awesome.
This time through they have their own sources of entertainment (although I did read a book to the computer and exported it to a flash drive), we won’t be sleeping on the ground, and my eldest is approaching adulthood and probably won’t be available to do too many more of these family adventures. I am so looking forward to spending time, sharing the space and the experience. How can it be anything else but awesome? Especially, with the promise they made not to abandon me when I wear the ‘Grasshole’ shirt I just made.
Aw, c’mon on now, Deani. You can’t just tell your readership about an especially intriguing shirt, and not accompany your story with an equally interesting photo of it. (Otherwise, you’re just asking for too many mental possibilities! ;)) Let’s see what it really looks like!
I like to leave things mysterious, but…
as per your request ;-)
