We have a group of friends that we gather for monthly potlucks. The monthly aspect is new and awesome. It is sad how many weeks, months can go by without contact with the important people in life.
Anyway, this month was our turn to host. I decided I was going to make Chicago-style deep-dish pizza. It was fabulous. The dough came together beautifully. I had all the fillings ready to go. I did some experimentation and made some really yummy sauce. Just before the first people arrived the electricity went out. My gas stove top will work without electricity but not the oven. So I was able to keep us supplied with tea, but not bake anything.
As always, the expectation was that the electricity would come back on at any minute, so I continued to put the pizzas together. One meat, one vegetable, and one cheese. Two hours pass and we were still without power, so my dear husband suggests we attempt to barbeque the pizzas (my husband is deeply in love with his barbeque. He has convinced others that they need a barbeque like his…). I am not sure what he did to not burn the bottom, and it took almost 45 minutes for each pizza but… smokey, gooey, cheesey, divine yumminess.
Pizza should always be barbequed.
