Spring seems to be arriving slowly. Now that the snow and ice have mostly melted from my yard it is not looking so lovely. I have a small patch of snowdrops peeking and some other spikes of green pushing through the still mostly frozen ground. These little glimmers of fresh green are overwhelmed by the brown grey mire that surrounds them. I would start to clear out the winter leaf debris to find more sprouts, but I am anticipating that winter hasn’t had its final say. Impatient for some colour and warmth I drew spring flowers on my fence. The drawing doesn’t create any warmth, but maybe the flowers help with the imagining of more warmth. Colour, I need more colour, maybe it is time to give up on chalk and venture into tempra paint.
