Today was a glorious and joyous spring day. One of those much needed things to boost energy and moral. I got the laundry out on the line (one of those inexplicable things that, as an adult, makes me happy), and spent most of the day outside. On a day like today it would be awesome to call in sick and take the day off. When your job is being a stay at home parent calling in sick isn’t an option. Thus the creation of Hausfrau the Temp.
My poor children must sometimes feel like I have a multiple personality disorder. They have experienced the Doppleganger named Ug, and now have been placed in the capable but not totally committed hands of Hausfrau. The things that pop from my head and out my mouth sometimes… I shake my head at myself. Maybe it all comes from the euphoria of a much needed bright and warm day. Anyway, unlike the uncaring and abrupt Ug, Hausfrau the Temp was there to do a job, not fulfill a role. Why would Hausfrau the Temp find the chalk when the children are perfectly capable of getting it themselves? Why make supper, when leftovers are there to be warmed up? Pep talk? Nah…just get outside ’cause that is what I said (although we did have a moment when Hausfrau told my eldest daughter that she drew like the wind, Hausfrau wasn’t hired for her eloquence). Hmm, Hausfrau isn’t sounding so different from me, except maybe about the leftovers.
