I am now faced with the dreaded task of value. I like making things, and I am really enjoying what I am doing now. Circles and colours or whatever else inspires me, what could be more fun. How do you place a value on it? Price of materials is easy. The time it takes to make is easy to keep track of, but what should my hourly rate be? Should there be an hourly rate? What should the value of a finished work of art be based on? My skill? My training? My exposure? The size? The amount of detail? Abstract or realistic? Originality? All of those things? None of it? Is there a formula for this kind of thing? Even when I look at other art the pricing seems somewhat arbitrary. But is it really? There is a skill to the balance of value. I will get this figured out soon.
